Acid Stain

Acid Staining is great for coloured concrete installation as it is the most durable and safest way to go. It's a process that requires applying an acid solution on your already finished slab of concrete which will eat away at any exposed aggregate or sand leaving behind only coloured pigment from the dye you choose. This leaves all parts of your concrete looking uniform with no contrasting colours, unlike staining which comes out darker in some areas and lighter in others. This is perfect if you are after the old antique look.

Staining

Concrete staining with the acrylic dyes give you great results for lighter coloured stains. It’s not as opaque as acetone dye, but it will work if your concrete is very light in colour (white or grey).

Acetone Dyes

Acetone Dyes are a solvent based concrete dye that will penetrate the surface of your concrete and bond with it. They are opaque which means they go on as a coloured pigment, but slowly fade over time letting whatever substrate you have underneath show through, creating an old world look similar to terrazzo or marble floors. This is perfect if you want something durable and low maintenance.

Water Based Dyes

Water based dyes are the strongest of all. These are acrylic dyes that work best on light or white concrete, but can also be used on other types as well. They aren’t recommended for very fine grained concrete because it could bleed out a little bit. Water based dyes will not chip off your concrete either!
